I'm anticipating!

Folks, 23 more hours to go and I'm off to Sematan with fellow church friends and members. Oh I am so excited! It has been quite a while since I last set my eyes on beach and the sea. Sematan, wait for me! Here I come! =]

Inter-school Prefects Telematch 2009

One day, as I was walking to Libra with Jac, Chara approached me and told me that a prefect from St. Joseph Secondary School (SJS) wanted to have my number to discuss about the Prefects Telematch 2009 organised by them. I agreed and gave Chara the permission. Felix was the organising chairman for the telematch. He kept me well-informed and details. I then asked the other prefects about this. However, very few prefects showed interest in it and at last, I decided to cancel it. Kind Felix said it was okay to have only 11 of us when the required prefects to participate were 15. =)

On the 14th of November, 2009, Sarah Jane, Scholastica, Sonia, Tariana, Sara Ruran, Vanessa, Chew, Chin Jia Jia, Izzan, Salbiah and I went to SJS. We met up in front there and went in. Oh, I saw... Nevermind, Sonia was late a little, claiming that Cha Sio Pau was late served (she was having breakfast) and ate dimsum instead. Then, we went into the auditorium. There, we were sorted into groups. I was in Group 6 with Salbiah. Jia Jia G1, Sarah G2, Sara G3, Tariana G4, Chew G5, Izzan G7, Scott G9 and Sonia G10.

We had a short session of ice-breaking. We played "Polka Dots". And after that, we proceeded to outdoor activities. My group first played a game at the field where it required our strength and teamwork. We were required to put a tyre down through a high poll stuck in the field. Either we threw the tyre in or use a stick. The stick was long and heavy. After placing the tyre, we had to take it out by flunging it as hard as we could. [I apologise if my way of describing it sucks. Haha.]

After that, we were brought to another station. Rope-climbing. It was tough yet fun. A rope was tied to the 1st floor of the Josephian block and let down to the ground floor. A person had to climb the rope on the ground floor and touch the 1st floor. A pretty tough job. I couldn't go up at first but my team members pushed me up. Haha. Vanessa fell down flat when she tried to come down. Poor her since she hurt her fingers and her back. It must be painful to fall from quite high place. Ouch.

We then played the "A-frame" game against G3. Salbiah stood in the middle of the frame while we dragged her across carefully so that she wouldn't fall. Haha, but G3 managed to speed past us. =.=

Then, we proceeded to the basketball court. Hehe. Of course, throughout the telematch, it drizzled. But, the drizzle didn't spoil the fun. The other group won against us. Hehe.

The last game was the food chain game. Here, one of our members would be blindfolded while another one would be tied with strings of biscuits. The blindfolded member would then have to walk across and have a bit on the biscuit. Every member will have to try. But before all of us had our turn, it was time for lunch.

Our lunch was fried mee hoon with a lime and chrysanthemum tea. Oh, the mee hoon certainly tasted better than our canteen food! [No offence]

Then, we had a short game. A piece of ribbon is clipped at our sleeves. We need to find pieces of clothes which will bring marks to out team. At the same time, that ribbon was like our lives. Haha. We had fun though eventhough it was a game full of suspense. Haha.

Next up was the highlight. All of the team would encounter the disgusting water mixed by the SJS prefects. It was gross but wasn't as gross as what Felix had described. We had to carry the water in cups to the opposite side. Two persons were "normal", two with hands tied, two with legs tied, two blindfolded. Haha. The SJS prefects also attacked us with flour and eggs. Which was so eew.

Lastly, we had group photo before going to clean ourselves and heading to the auditorium. In the auditorium, the PK HEM of SJS gave away the certificate of participation to every school that participated. Hehe. We also had group photo as well. Then, Lodge National danced "Sorry Sorry" song by Super Junior. It was great. Nicky sang and danced MJ's song. I could see that he's a big fan of MJ.

Then, prefects all went wild. We danced and sang and jumped like crazy. Haha. And the song, "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift was sang by every prefects. Haha. After that, we took group photo with the SJS prefects before leaving home.

Some of us had gone home while Sonia, Izzan, Scholastica and I went to SugarBun as we were hungry. And all of us ordered KIDS' MEAL. =P Rasa muda. Haha... Overall, it was fun and I do hope that there would be another telematch next year. =]

Ohh, I miss the telematch already. XP

Pardon Me

I'm very very sorry for abandoning my poor blog. Seriously, after exams, things didn't turn to be any relaxing. There's prize-giving day coming up, the co-curriculum AGMs just passed, graduation day of F5. Teehee. Despite that, I still do find time to enjoy myself eventhough the school is pretty stuffy with students from afternoon session coming up to morning session.

Oh, did you readers realise how time pass by so fast? I hadn't even have time to catch my breath and poof! There you go, it's November already! Speaking about November, it reminded me of New Moon. When is it coming out again? I am anticipating for better movie this time though. XP

Aah, it has been quite a while since I last went out with a group of friends. The busyness life of a Form 4 student is taking away all the enjoyments in life. But
But But HOLIDAYS ARE HERE IN A WEEK TIME!

Wondering what should I do during the holidays? Gah, I forgot to ask teachers who need our help to clean their houses during the holidays though. People, remind me! I am so so so forgetful. XP I want to work. =.= I really want to work. ^^

I want to drive, too! I have been bugging mum to let me take the law and then by next year can drive liao. But, mum insisted that I can only drive AFTER SPM. She claims that if I can drive already, 24/7 I won't be at home studying. Me? I assure her that I won't but she still sticks to her decision. I do hope mum will change her mind, soon. *cross fingers*

I want to go out. I want to watch movie. I want to shop. I want to eat. And I need to exercise. I have put on weight during exams as I ate then went off to studying before dozing off. =.= So, it's a no wonder fats started to accumulate in my body. I need to burn those fats! XP Hahahaha... Lol.

Okay peeps. It's 11.16 p.m. now. Better get some sleep so as not to feel tired the next morning. Another busy day to come.

Cindy signs off. Goodnight.

Lastly, to all the Form 4s, all the best! We'll crack our head remembering History, struggling to do Add Maths, cracking head for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, doing real hard for Moral =.= etc etc. Add oil, add oil! ^^

Cindy won't be blogging... until exam is over. Till then. Bye!

Mooncake Festival Reunion Dinner

Yesterday was the mooncake festival. Chinese celebrated them. Including my family. Had a reunion dinner at Golden Chef.

When we arrived, eyes were all set on the karaoke set. So cool. XD So, many of us took turns to sing! Haha... Including me. I sang with Syn Nee, Dad, Ah Han, and even Han's dad. Hehe. But of course, stomach needed to be filled so I ate quite a lot. =P Then, got bored and decided to drag Nee into camwhoring with me. Ander and Zhang joined in later.

Nee.

Grandaunt, Nee, me, Greatgrandma, Granduncle.
Nee and I.
Freeze! Lift up your hands! We caught you! XD
Eee... Look... [The sakai-ness in me and Nee]
That's our Mafia boss - Aunty Ah Lin.

3D

Heard of the recently newly opened MBO Cinemas?

Yeah, it's the only cinema in Kuching [currently] offering 3D movies. I wonder how it's like.

Heard that the Parkson cinema [forget the name] has renovated and people say they look quite nice. Star on the other hand, uhm... Not much improvement, aye?

It has been quite a while since I last set my foot in the cineplex theatre. Until that Raya, with Lin Wei and bro at MBO. Hehe. I guess busy life overcomes everything, including fun, no?

Well, exam is in 2 weeks time. Deng. Haven't started studying.

Wishing all Form 3s all the best in PMR! Jia you! Gambate-ne! =)

Ciaossu.

Cindy leaves. Oh so random.

Be Careful

I've had a bad encounter of assaults today. I will not reveal the story here but just to share a bit with you, readers. Be careful when you're walking to a destination. Do walk in large group. Two is not enough.

Oh pss, I realised that when girls are aggresive, they're scarier than guys! Oh, and after today's incident had made me reaffirmed that I blacklisted people who smoked. I mean, it's okay for them who love to smoke, smoke but I won't want someone who smoked as my life partner. XD Think too far. Hehe.

For some of you who knew the story, you may think or say that I am stupid. Yes, I am stupid. But, it's easy for you to say that just because you aren't in my shoes. You don't know how tense the situation was that time.

Lol. Let the things bury itself in the past. =)

Cindy hopes whatever had happened to her doesn't happen to others.

GoKart

After KAYD09, I joined my aunty's family [Uncle Dominic, Aunty Sylvia, Winnie, Andrew, Bryan] to GoKart. Bro tagged along as well. This GoKart is situated at Jalan Kemajuan, Pending area. We arrived there pretty early. And then, Aunty suddenly suggested that we were to go and play first.
The man in-charge briefed us on the safety rules.

Me and Bryan.
Us before going to the gokart.
Then, we got into the gokart.

Briefing to Andrew.

Me

Winnie

Bro

Us before leaving for the race. Andrew - 9, Me - 10, Winnie - 16, Bro - 1.

We tried on the car by making one round. Bryan couldn't play because he is quite young and his legs weren't long enough. =.= The four of us competed. Bro was asked to stop because the hair net covered his eyes. We weren't being briefed about the flags and so when the person in charge showed the flag with black and white one, we thought we needed to stop. =.= Stupid me. Then, Winnie cut me! -_-" On the way to the finishing point, Andrew's engine broke down and blocked my way. =.= And I ended up in the third place.

GoKart's winner is based on the best time of the laps that we had driven through. Andrew's best time was 47 seconds, so he emerged as the winner among us. Winnie came in second with 48 seconds. I finished at 49 seconds and bro finished at 59 seconds if I am not mistaken. XD

Results. Quite blur.

Then, we played snooker. Bro was champion at this. Basically, our snooker technique sucks so yeah, we simply play as long as the ball enters the hole, that's it! XD

Bryan being a gentleman. =.=

Andrew in action

Andrew and Alvin
Ignore the hair net on my head... =.= Winnie punya pasal this one...
Me in action. (-_-")
Bro in action.

And then, football game. Two kids came and joined us but they were playing so dangerously that I had to raise my voice at one of the kids. He was apparently turning that stick when I turned it too, and it might hurt his hands. I felt guilty and went to look for him but to no avail. Lastly, we played the LaserTag game. Me and bro one team while the rest of them one team. We chased each other in the dark and were supposed to shoot each other when we found them. It was fun. Except that we were exhausted. XP

LaserTag game. You need to shoot that red-coloured thing you put on.

Aunty's colleague.

Then, mum and dad arrived and all of us went to Muara Tebas for dinner. Seafood! =) Then, we went home, feeling full and happy indeed.

Cindy wants to go gokart again. ^^

KAYD09

KAYDo9 stands for Kuching Archdiocesan Youth Day 09 was held on the 28th to 30th of August 2009 at Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre, CEWC, Jalan Stampin. One word to describe it - AWESOME!!!

This is my first time attending KAYD09. I had earlier worried so much since Teresa couldn't make it to KAYD09 cos of transportation problem. I was worried. Since I would be left alone, without a friend. [Jesus is my friend, I know but that time, panic overcomes everything] Joan couldn't make it but promise to make it to KAYD11. I hope I could serve and contribute more in 2 years time.

Anyway, I registered as servant for KAYD09. Under Multimedia since I like photography so much. On Wednesday, Iain messaged me and asked me to go CEWC to attend the rehearsal. I was to partner Iain in representing St. Peter for the opening ceremony. I quickly arranged my IMH schedule with Miss Kristene but she didn't reply my message. =( I hope she isn't mad with me.

Upon arriving, I saw Marcella which was a great relieve. She was so kind that she brought me with her in the group and introduced to me, Sophia who was such a great friend too. After the rosary walk, we had rehearsal on the opening ceremony. Servants were to wear blue colour shirt on Friday.

Iain and I went to find our leader. We were surprised when he told us that he didn't receive any information about us joinin his team. Iain would be the projectionist, a job which he is so pro at while I took up the challenge and be the photographer. Apparently, leader [I called him leader since I kinda forget his name, sorry! =S] asked me to see Damien. I didn't know who was Damien by then, and was searching high and low for him. Kind Reuben who was there to represent KYCS for the opening ceremony told me. Damien referred me back to leader. Anyway, actually, all the jobs are full - projectionists, videographers and even photographers, all enough people already. Nevertheless, I am grateful that both leader and Damien welcomed me into their team. Damien taught me about my camera and I felt grateful and thankful to him even until this very moment. He taught me to explore my camera to get the benefits of it. I did at that night and I tried. Ooh, pretty cool. [Note: I lost all my previous pictures taken when my camera got jammed during the KAYD09 Evangelical concert. I only have the pictures of the concert and onwards. So say bye bye to my pictures like during the visit to the religious houses etc.]

Did I mention that I make a nice and cool keychain with my name on it? =) It costed only 5 bucks and I asked Father Felix to help to bless it. Thanks,

The bookmark came along with the keychain.

The first day of KAYD09. I thought KAYD09 started at 3 p.m. but only to know that KAYD09 servants [especially those involved in opening ceremony] had to be there by 2 p.m. Sorry, Iain. So, I asked grandma to send since Dad left earlier as he couldn't wait until 2 p.m. to send me. He had initially offered to send me there by 1 something but I refused because I didn't want to be alone. So I directed grandma using the Hui Sing road and arrived CEWC safely. Thanks, grandma! Then, I headed into the hall and searched for Iain. Apparently, he was busy with his work so I wandered about. Then, Joshua nudged Iain when he saw me. Iain came hurriedly and gave me the Bible verse which I would be reading later. I scrolled through and read.

The first event was the Mass by Archbishop John Ha. =) I attended Mass alone [without family members] but with Marcella and her friends. She introduced Sophia to me. =) I realised I could pay attention to what Bishop said and I was glad. Throughout the Mass, I remained spirited and I was glad. Then, when Mass had ended, the leader of Hospitality team briefed us about the rules and regulations everyone should follow during KAYD09. After that was announcements and everyone went home.

At night, I went to tuition instead of KAYD09. Mum's request. Lol.

The first day ended with me being a bit unfamiliar but slowly adapting to it. =)

Receiving Holy Communion.

Praise and Worship.

Announcements by Emcees. Bryan and Karen.

Announcements by the Hospitality team leader.

And that was the end of day 1.

Day 2 of KAYD. Damien's advice came into my head. "You move about and interact with people lah. Take their group photos..." I didn't move about. I wasn't familiar yet. I didn't have the courage. It started at 8 a.m. The first session was the Mass, followed by breakfast. Then, Jude Antoine, the guest speaker conducted the next session entitled, "Seperti Aku Telah Mengasihi Kamu". Here, Jude explained about Love and reaffirmed the verse John 13.34-35 which was the theme for KAYD09. The extraordinary love is only from God who loves us so much until He is willing to sacrifice His Son on the cross. Jude, too posed some questions for us. Where did we come from? Genesis 1:27-28 has the answer. Note that we're made in the image of God and it's not a coincidence that we are borned into this world. Who are we? Refer to John 1:12-13. Another thing which attracted me is this:

"When someone say to you that you're useless, what will be your response?"
No. I am God's child. He loves me.

and this:

No matter how serious is your sin, Jesus won't set you aside but He will still love you. [Not your sins]

Amazing isn't it, God's love for us? =) Jude also told us a story about this person who turned away from God when his father passed away. He blamed God and turned away. One day, God spoke to him, "I am the one who took your father away and I will be your Father." Here are some of the words I learned in Yunani language:

Ab means Bapa
Abe means Bapa saya
Abba means Daddy

Bapa yang kekal. Go on, click it. =) P.S Focus on the lyrics.

Then, we had workshops. We were divided into 13 groups. Marcella was my group's facilitator. Group 8. I was in the same group with Sophia but Michelle was in Group 11. We had discussions. And before going off for break, we had self-reflection and confessed our sins to God and did the Act of Contrition.

During break, I remembered that I hadn't bought a KAYD09 t-shirt! I went to see and to my dismay, the sizes XS, S, M and L were all sold out. I repeat, SOLD OUT! Only left XL, 2XL and 3XL. =( Nevermindlah, I reminded myself.

The next session was by Jude Antoine. This time, it revolved around the topic, "Supaya Kamu Saling Mengenali". Jude told us to love our enemies eventhough they hurt you. =) Refer to 1 John 3:15 Mereka yang membenci saudara mereka adalah pembunuh.

After that was the workshop session again. We did the family-o-meter and peers-o-meter. Then, we shared our thoughts. Finally, we were given a mission. We were given 5 red ribbons each. On each of them, we needed to write words of affirmation or bible verses or even sentences as simple as 'Jesus Loves You' and so forth. After that, we were required to tie each ribbon on different persons, preferably someone we did not know and say a little prayer as we tie those ribbons at their wrist the next morning. Everyone in the hall must have at least 3 ribbons, regardless whether you're a servant or participant.

At night, it was the evangelical concert. My leader smiled at me as I queued to get into the hall. He said that actually I could have gone into the hall cos I am a servant. =) His smile made me have the courage to really bear the responsibility of a servant @ photographer. Thanks. So I started to walk about to take photos. My, so many people were there! It was indeed good to see people all coming to praise God.

The concert kicked off with 2 skits. The first was about a young girl who was alone and people all bullied her. Then, angels came and finally Jesus came too. =) Of course, the crowd's response was overwhelming. The second skit was about 2 family with different backgrounds in religion. One was in relationship with Christ, one wasn't. The family which wasn't in relationship with Christ - the father workaholic and didn't really care about the the family, the mum was hot-tempered, the elder son was a big bully and the youngest son was shy and often being bullied. This family ended up turning back to God after the youngest son ran away or something and made the parents realised that God is Love. =) Anyway, the skit was great and people all responded to the skit. The actors and actresses were all great.

Neh, the youngest boy of the broken family with the only daughter of the good family. The crowd woo-ed when they watched this scene. XD
The broken family repented with the help of the good family.
Then, it was the praise and worship session. My, the Music Ministry/Worship team was so great! They were able to make the whole crowd move and jump and dance and shout and sweat!
=)

The talented Music Ministry.
Youths on fire for God!
Look at those who were eager to praise the Lord!

Below are the pictures of the singers of the music ministry:

Alex.

After that, Jude took over and did a short healing session.

Don't cha think Jude looks like He just came down from heaven? With God's light shining on him?
Listening as Jude spoke.

He was in-charge of the audio.

Jude led all of us into singing worship songs again. My camera battery died at around that moment. =.= Then, when it all ended, there were phototaking session for all the teams [servants].

Except Multimedia ministry since they were the ones taking photos for others. I was feeling great and went home happily. ^^ Arriving home. I wrote one bible verse on one of the ribbon but it looked dull. So I decided to take stickers with good words like 'I am God's princess' and pasted on the ribbons. =) Happy with my work, I went to bed.

Day 3. I arrived and saw people tied ribbons to others. I did too. I gave mine to Michelle, Charles, Prescilla, Julian and Maxine. =D Some kind kind people tied me with their ribbons too. I got 6 ribbons when the least each person should get is 3. Thanks, people!

The day kicked off with a praise and worship session. It was a great one as God changed His programme and some people were crying and the Holy Spirit touched each and everyone of us there. It was indeed a mesmerising moment. ^^

Then, we had break. This time, I took the oppotunity to take the pictures of my newly made friends. =)

Josephine and Elizabeth. Sisters.

He helped to sell...

... this!

Damien

Monica and friend.

Marcella and friend.

Joshua at work

Even West Malaysians joined us. Father Felix was the one in white. =)

Leader!

Claudia who was so kind to lend me and Sophia her jacket when we were both shivering cold. I was touched by her kindness. =)

Multimedia team at work

Michelle

Maxine

Iain.

Li Ping

Then, it was the concluding session entitled, "Bahawa Kamu Ialah Murid-muridku" by Jude once again. Who called us? Read up Matthew 4:18-22 and John 12:32. Then, we had a closing Mass by Father Simon.

Father Simon.
The music ministry became the choir.
After receiving communion.

Offerings.

After that, we proceeded to the closing ceremony. It began with dance by the Dance and Drama Ministry. Have I told you that Iain danced real good? And the rest too!

Jude and his family.

We praised and worshipped the Lord.

Then, Ben called every servants to be on stage. The servants were asked to pray for the participants and the participants to pray for the servants later.

Servants praying for participants.

Participants praying for servants.

Then, came the saddest part of all. We hugged each other. Some people whom I didn't know hugged me which touched me a lot. I felt being welcomed here. =) Yeah, a lot of times already, I felt I am being welcomed to the Catholic community. I am waiting for the right time for my baptism, if it's God's will. Anyways, I hugged Li Ping, Iain, Damien, Alex, Maxine, Marcella and few others. Wow, it was the first time I hugged guys, I think. XD I felt touched when people hugged me. I felt those hugs like telling me that we're one big family together with Christ. =)

Aah, one regretful thing was I didn't manage to take the last group photo with the multimedia team because I would be having a gokart outing later with Aunty Sylvia's family and I needed to go. ='( I was so touched when Marcella called me.

M: Hello, Cindy? Where are you?
C: Uhm, I already go back home.
M: Oh is it? They keep on announcing 'Cindy' here.
C: Oh, why?
M: Phototaking session with the Multimedia team.
C: Oh nevermindlah.
*hung up*

Something like that lah the conversation between me and Marcella. I was so touched. The Multimedia team remembered me! Thanks you guys! It had been a great fun and experience working with you guys although I didn't contribute anything.

Anyway, I prayed that I would be able to serve in such events again. The next time such events will be held, I will choose to be the servants because I felt greater joy in me when I am serving. Do inform me if the Empowered Ministry needs me in service. I'll be there, if there's no obstacles in preventing me to serve my dearest Lord, Saviour and Redeemer. I wanted to join the ministry but I think my tuition on Friday couldn't be adjusted and perhaps mum don't let? It all depends on God's will. =) Jeremiah 29:11.

I've learned a lot through KAYD09. I hope what I've learned, I will be able to apply them into my life. I want to love others as how God has loved me. Cheers, people. Spread His love today to the whole nations! =)

Before I forget, a very very very BIG thank you to Marcella who helped me a lot during KAYD09. May God bless you abundantly. Oh, and all the best in your national state level drama competition in Penang. =) Hearts.

Cindy misses KAYD09.
